One-third of the registrants are international participants
The qualifying rounds for the 2024 ETB event in Tenerife will begin on Friday, September 27.

A total of 100 athletes have registered to take part in the second event of the 2024 European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB) at El Socorro Beach (Los Realejos), which will run from Thursday, September 26, to Sunday, September 29. This tournament marks a return to this northern Tenerife beach after a 16-year hiatus.
Of the registered athletes, 31—about a third—are international participants, with the rest being from the Canary Islands. The international athletes come from countries such as Portugal, Morocco, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, and Chile, among others. Notably, the women's category features nine athletes from Portugal, one from Brazil, and one from Chile, along with the local competitor from Los Realejos, Teresa Miranda.
The women’s competition promises to be a high-level showdown between top-tier international athletes, including Luna Hardman (Brazil) and Luana Dourado (Portugal), the current world champion and runner-up in Junior Women’s Bodyboard, respectively. Also competing are Teresa Miranda, the 2023 world runner-up, as well as the Portuguese stars Filipa Broeiro, the reigning European champion, and Joana Schenker, the 2017 world champion.

Among the Canary Islands athletes, notable participants include Carlos Samuel Brito Navarro, the current Spanish Men’s Bodyboard Champion, and Néstor José Reyes García, the current Spanish Under16 Men’s Bodyboard Champion.
Qualifying rounds will kick off on Friday, September 27, starting at 9:00 a.m., in line with the best marine forecast. These rounds are expected to run until Sunday, September 29. The Thursday, September 26 schedule includes a surfing initiation workshop. The official athlete registration process will begin at 5:00 p.m. The first day of the ETB 2024 El Socorro will conclude with an athlete interview held at El Terrero's Buguera Zone, from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., hosted by Óscar Socorro, a cultural and sports icon in Los Realejos and one of the organizers of the event at this Tenerife beach.
The competition will follow a heat system, with four athletes in each heat. The top two from each heat will move on to the next round. Each heat will last approximately 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the organizers' calculations. The 100 registered athletes are divided into the following categories: Open (45), Women (12), Junior (26), and Dropknee (17).
Apart from the Dropknee category—where athletes ride with one knee on the board—the other competitions will be in the prone bodyboarding style. All categories, except Junior (for those under 18 by December 31, 2024), are open to athletes of all ages. The total prize pool for all categories amounts to €6,000.
The event is organized by the Canary Surf Federation (FCS) under the Socorro Classic brand, promoting sporting activities held at this beach. It is an official and scoring event for the European Tour of Bodyboard, as well as for the 100% Bodyboard League (Spanish Surfing Federation) and the Canary Bodyboard Circuit of the Canary Surf Federation.
This ETB circuit event in El Socorro is the second to take place in the Canary Islands this year as part of the European tour and the second on the circuit’s calendar, following the Gran Canaria PRO, held last weekend at the Cícer wave in Las Palmas.
